Tectona Grandis
Where Timeless Craft Finds Modern Calm

A little bit about us

Timeless Teak Symphony

Tectona Grandis Furniture (TGF) is a design-led furniture studio rooted in two decades of material exploration and hands-on practice. Founded in 2015 by NID-trained furniture designer Dhruvkant Amin and joined by Jalpa Amin with her strategic background in textiles and operations, TGF brings together design clarity, craft, and systems thinking.

Its work, expressive yet restrained, is built to last and designed to live with. With reclaimed teak as its symbolic and material anchor, TGF balances thoughtful design with scalable production. From a 50,000 sq. ft. facility in Ahmedabad, TGF serves architects, institutions, and homes across India and beyond. Quietly bold, deeply rooted, TGF stands for trust, timelessness, and thoughtful evolution.

Brand Philosophy

At TGF, we believe that design is not just what we make, it is how we think, how we build, and how we live. Good furniture is not about ornament or trend; it is about presence. It supports. It endures. It becomes a part of life, quietly and fully. We are driven by the desire to create work that is thoughtful and lasting. This means working with honesty of material, of proportion, and of process. It means respecting the pace of craft, and the people who bring it to life.

We build in wood, but we also build in trust between makers and users, between ideas and execution. Every piece that leaves our studio carries with it, the touch of a hand, and the clarity of intent. We do not measure value in volume. We measure it in care. In what remains long after trends fade or finish wear. For us, design is not a final gesture, but a quiet offering made to serve, to last, and to belong.

Founders

Founded in 2015 by Dhruvkant and Jalpa Amin, Tectona Grandis Furniture has evolved into one of India’s most respected furniture design studios, backed by a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. A furniture designer from the National Institute of Design, Dhruvkant brings a sharp instinct for form, proportion, and craft, shaping TGF’s identity with a hands-on, problem-solving approach and a deep respect for materiality.

Complementing his vision, Jalpa, drawing from her background in mathematics, training at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, and her family’s textile legacy, brings structure and strategic clarity to the studio. Together, their combined strengths in design, discipline, and operational excellence ensure that integrity, process, and enduring quality remain at the core of TGF’s philosophy.

Manufacturing Infrastructure

With over 65,000 sq. ft. of factory space and a dedicated team of 100+ members, Tectona Grandis Furniture brings together scale, skill, and advanced technology. Our growing facility is equipped with evolving high tech machinery that complements traditional expertise, allowing us to refine each process with precision and consistency.

As the team expands, we continue to invest in creating a workspace that enhances comfort, safety, and productivity. This balance of people first values and modern infrastructure ensures that every piece is crafted to international standards rooted in timeless design, yet responsive to the future of making.

TGF Values

What we believe in, and what guides how we make.

Rooted in Design

Design is not a surface; it is a way of seeing, thinking, and making. At TGF, design is the foundation — shaping not only our products but the way we work, grow, and relate to the world around us.

Craft with Care

Every joint, curve, and finish matters. We believe in doing fewer things, but doing them well. Our work is guided by the rhythm of tools and hands — precise, practiced, and patient.

Built to Last

We build for permanence — in material, in emotion, and in memory. From structural integrity to finish durability, everything we make is designed to endure and to age with grace.

People First

Behind every piece is a team of skilled individuals — thinkers, doers, and makers. We believe in nurturing talent, creating safe workplaces, and building relationships founded on respect.

Simplicity is Strength

Restraint is not absence; it is clarity. We seek balance, not excess. Our pieces are honest in material and form — quiet, yet expressive. Functional, yet poetic.

Sustainability, Practised

We approach sustainability not as a label, but as a responsibility. From reclaimed woods to efficient production methods, we strive for choices that are conscious and enduring — for the user and for the planet.

Evolving with Purpose

Growth for us is not about more — but about meaning. We evolve through thoughtful collaborations, intentional collections, and a continued commitment to trust, quality, and care.

TGF Values

Tradition Embraces Contemporary

We pair heritage joinery with contemporary clarity, letting the wood speak, the ripple of its grain, and the gentle weight that reassures you of its strength.

Sustainably built in-house, our designer pieces carry the soul of teak, grounding rooms today and becoming heirlooms tomorrow.

Rituals of Making

The making of each piece begins with teak, shaped carefully by hand. Joints are fitted with precision, the surface is patiently sanded, and natural oil is applied to bring out the wood’s warm tone, a finish that matures gracefully with time.

Creative Collaborations

At Tectona Grandis Furniture, collaboration is a way to explore new perspectives. By working with product designers and skilled craftsmen, we create space for dialogue where technique, material, and vision come together with quiet balance. Each collaboration is less about showcasing and more about discovering allowing fresh ideas to take shape through shared craftsmanship.

These exchanges not only honor the artistry of others but also encourage us to look beyond the familiar, refining our own approach in the process. The outcome is a body of work that carries subtle innovation while remaining grounded in timeless craft, adding depth and diversity to the Tectona Grandis story.

TGF X CRIO

At Tectona Grandis Furniture (TGF), our Signature Collection is a celebration of rarity, craftsmanship, and timeless design. For this limited-edition collaboration, we’ve partnered with CRIO, an Ahmedabad-based brand founded by sibling duo Vishwa and Yayati Patel. Known for reimagining concrete as raw yet refined, functional yet timeless, CRIO creates handcrafted pieces that embody individuality, durability, and non-conformity. Their exploration of concrete as an expressive medium, combined with TGF’s design language and artisanal precision, has given rise to sculptural, functional furniture that redefines contemporary living. Together, we present creations that carry the essence of both brands TGF’s uncompromising quality and CRIO’s spirit of material innovation crafted for connoisseurs who value design as enduring art.

TGF X TEXTILE ARTISAN FROM BHUJODI

At Tectona Grandis Furniture (TGF), our Signature Collection thrives on bringing together timeless design and India’s rich craft heritage. In this special collaboration, we partnered with Virjibhai, a National Award-winning Dari maker from Bhujodi, Kutch renowned for his mastery and contribution to India’s weaving traditions. Together, we created a chair called Abhir Chair that seamlessly integrates his handcrafted Dari, making it not just a piece of furniture but a canvas of culture and craft. This collaboration goes beyond design innovation; it is a celebration of legacy, honoring the artistry of handwoven textiles while reimagining their place in contemporary living. By weaving Virjibhai’s heritage into our design language, the piece stands as both functional furniture and cultural narrative an enduring symbol of craftsmanship, collaboration, and respect for India’s artisanal traditions.

Threads of Empowerment

Threads of Empowerment is a design-led initiative that celebrates handcrafted textiles while driving meaningful change. Founded in January 2025 by Jalpa Amin co-founder of Tectona Grandis Furniture and Jaldhini Patel, it blends expertise in custom textiles, floral design, and curated décor.

With Jalpa’s NIFT training and Jaldhini’s creative leadership, the platform nurtures women entering the craft world, many for the first time. Through guided learning, they gain skills, dignity, and income, transforming hidden potential into visible work. Every piece tells a story of growth and care, with proceeds also supporting children’s education stitching together design and social impact.

Passion Opens Up

New Avenues of Success

Have a dream, strive for it every day, and the universe conspires to make it happen. Dhruvkant Amin believed in it. His unwavering faith in starting a designer furniture studio of his own was realized after a series of successful projects.

After displaying his talent at IIT Gandhinagar, he bagged the project to redesign the historic building, The Navjivan Trust, founded by Mahatma Gandhi. Every piece of furniture designed resonates with the values and heritage of the building. Especially, the chairs designed for the Karma café have been named after the café, The Karma Chairs.

As the market was gradually opening up to the designer furniture, Dhruvkant Amin opened a full-fledged designer furniture studio, Tectona Grandis, in 2014 in Ahmedabad.
